As if the health and safety protocols weren’t already enough, Kyle Sample got food poisoning in the Coronavirus bubble. Sample, the head coach for Brotherly Love, had a rocky start to his first TBT. nonetheless, he was able to lead his team to a first round win.
Sample is a well-respected figure in the Philadelphia basketball world. As a high school coach at Harriton High School, Sample has made a name for himself in the local area. He also is the assistant director for Kyle Lowry’s AAU program, K-Low Elite.
Throughout his decade with K-Low Elite, they have produced more than 70 players that have received college scholarships. As one of the more highly respected young coaches in Philadelphia, Sample consistently establishes strong relationships with players. Not only this, but Sample is a true gymrat.
In addition, Sample finds time to work with players ranging from elite D1 prospects to novice players being introduced to the game for the first time. He treats everyone with the utmost respect. This made him an obvious choice to lead Brotherly Love.
In his TBT debut, Sample led his squad to a victory of a talented Stillwater Stars Team. With the help of Khalif Wyatt and Ramone Moore, Team Brotherly Love dominated the 2nd half despite trailing at the start. After they were able to shut down Le’Bryan Nash on the defensive end, his team never looked back.
With his deep squad of 10 guys, Sample is able to balance playing time accordingly. This gives him a leg up against teams with a more shallow roster, as they are less likely to avoid burnout. Since he is also from Philly, he knows what it’s like to play Philly style basketball. Sample and his squad proved worthy in their first game and are looking forward to taking on Eberlein Drive on Monday.
